AFTER 25YEARS, MY BUSINESS STORY


I grew up seeing my parents do good business that brings them a great fortune, I was compelled to be a part of it since that is all they know and do, this has grown my passion into delving into various types of businesses, I just have this hunger that you can make money from anything that is legitimate, of good quality I mean international standard, any product or service that people needs and cannot do without, any product that solves the problem for humanity. I remember while I was in 9-5 daily work and my colleagues happen to go on vacation abroad I will ask them what they bring in to sell and if the answer is no I will tell them, but you could have at least recover your ticket fee by coming with at least some deodorants, lingeries, perfume, belts or some simple wear like a tank top to sell and that can suffice for some of your expenses, but I hear things like oh !!, I just went to enjoy and relax but I cannot blame them it is just the way I am wired when the opportunity came for me to go too, trust me have got eagle eye to see what my friends and stores will like to buy and I surely make a profit and recover some of the money I spent while in vacation, who said you can not use a stone to kill two birds,hmmmmmm, I see making side money in all opportunities and I like to leverage on them.

Due to my engagement in various businesses for 25years, trading in children wears, gift items, toys for the children also on the other side setting up poultry farms that breed 200birds these are part of my journey in Kaduna after marriage and getting to Lagos in 1999 and when we were forced to stay behind after our Christmas holiday in the year2000 due to Kaduna riot. I had to go learn how to bake, and I started baking cakes, making chinchin packaged them in such a way the bankers can enjoy and pay good money for them, along with that line I did the supply of eggs in my neighborhood, have a store where I sell household items, beverages, condiments and sachet water I really wanted to tell you that my discovery here was superb I started selling like 10 bags in a week but as time goes on I began to sell 10 bags a day, I noticed Lagosian do not have any season they can not drink chilled water or even iced so I make sure I served them that and they kept coming back from one street to another, the iced block users knocked at my door as early as 6.00 am to request for the purchase of “iced blocks”to use in cooling the soft drinks they sell it was really an eye-opener for me and in all these my passion for color and quality products took hold of me and led me into the supply of kitchen cleaning items and accessories to the notable supermarkets in the state. I fell in love with this business because it alleviates the problem of getting good materials to use for washing utensils and cleaning the kitchen gadgets, they came in different colors that attracts and I love them, I used them, my friends and family does too and everyone testifies that they are awesome.

In this journey, I gained some major and crucial experiences that you need to possess to enable you to thrive in your businesses no matter who your competitors are, like the saying slow and steady you win the race.
I faced challenges in this business journey to make some decisions that might not be favorable
Had to sell at times my products at my cost price, afraid to launch out when necessary, fixing a price that will compete was always an issue because am thinking of my competitor price and knowing at what stage to review and also I had to learn the method of approach on how and when to present to my clients any changes in the business. Do you also know that you have to think at times for your clients to avoid wasting time, money, and energy and while doing that, the obligation will bring you great sales, these, and many tactics I had to learn in my 25years of doing business? These all I overcame in the process of doing good business being attentive to my environment.


Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, you might be facing some giants that need to be addressed some crossroads decision to take now in your business for it to survive this period please do it right away, no time to waste.
There is a tendency for SME’sor big corporations might want to start reduction in the quality of their produce due to the high cost of the purchase of materials, it is a wrong move if there is any time in the history of business people wants value for their money it is now because it is costing everybody big time to earn what they have, so nobody will take anything less than GOOD QUALITY that is what you business owners should leverage on.

First, ascertain the set of clients that want and in need of this your product or service and can pay good money for it,
Secondly, do the needful ‘a la carte ‘ give them what they desired good international standards and satisfy their cravings. Source your materials wisely and intelligently having your clients interest at heart, make sure you eliminate all unnecessary expenses so as not to be too pricy even the rich likes discounts
Thirdly, wait and see them ask for more and more and keep satisfying them on time and in good condition.

I had this experience to share when one of my clients wanted to start a business and her concerns were how to fixed her price and what she was targeting was the lowest range price because she felt she was new but I advised her not to but to use the 3 honey steps I just highlighted, it is 2years now she is smiling and already knows how to meet the need of every cadre in the business.
