The generation gap and behavioral patterns have turned the world upside down. The situation has become a menace in society due to the difference in the generation's behaviors. It has caused a lot of drift and still causes misunderstanding in this society.
The new generation believes their voice is not receiving adequate attention, while the older thought there is a lack of respect in the display of attitude by the younger ones. Also, I believe value has gotten thrown into the bin. All this is happening due to a lack of information and understanding. by the generation involved.
We have different categories of these generations, also the difference that is causing havoc.
THE NEGATIVE Y -These are those born between 1929-1945. Who believes in according respect for every situation and circumstance. Who will not accept laxity and receive no excuses?
THE BABYBOOMERS-These came into existence between 1946- 1964. They were born after the war. In all their minds is how to multiply the earth by bringing in more babies to occupy the world. They wanted to take over and feel more knowledgeable than all.
THE BABY BUSTERS- These came between 1965-1982. It is with the mindset of controlling the population. With the introduction of pills, they want caution to be in the air. They are skeptical and feel they are being lied to by the older generation. They put up with so many things.
MILLENNIALS- They grew up with technological innovation, with the discovery of cell phones. These sets want to choose the leader they want to follow from the computer.
GEN Z - These were born into terrorism, Coronavirus. They have grown up with cell phones and are asking Google the question that to ask the parents.
How do we now expect these generations to absorb each other into society and live? All we ought to do is to begin to do reverse monitoring. The situation where the old and new take on mentoring each other. That is new to teach the old how to operate computers with the latest technology is in vogue. And the old generation should teach the basics and the core values of the society and organization.
Rather than creating a wall, there should be a bridge built for communication. There should come a time when the conversation should get based on each other stories. Where the old should listen to the story of the new, there will be a lot of consideration and understanding. And the old with their story will make the new wiser. Then will find common ground.
If we seek a society that will be free and fair to live in, and with an upward scale growth. There must be the integration of all generations in decisions making. There must be clarification of preferences, expectations, and demands by all. Without this, it's going to be chaos. And this we do not need.
