LIMITLESS MONDAY
ARE YOU UNCOMFORTABLE TO HAVE AN UNCOMFORTABLE CONVERSATION? DO YOU RATHER GO MUTE?

We teach English in school, mathematics, science, art, and the rest. But there is no class on how to deal with uncomfortable situations at home. At the workplace, among teams, and in relationships. So you find people who shy away from having that conversation. They find solace in being mute or angry.

Many homes and relationships get destroyed. because you feel uncomfortable having that difficult conversation. Many people will get angry and cut off without opening up on the problem or coming to terms with how to solve it.

Generations after generations will take different ways of handling difficult conversations. We see the millennials quitting their jobs instead of going to the boss and having a conversation. The Genz would get angry for how they were treated rather than having that difficult conversation.

A corporation needs to teach the leaders of teams how to have uncomfortable conversations with their team. It is better than writing that angry email that you feel undervalued. It will be okay if you take time out and have that conversation.

Dealing with uncomfortable conversations is a skill. It is required to be taught and learned. People divert energy into different things. Some will put their strength into abandoning each other. Restraining discussions on calls and even becoming inactive on social media.

It could be because you refuse to be uncomfortable having that difficult conversation. that might lead to a lasting solution. Most of the energy goes into being picky about every word from partners or teams and turns to a fight without having clarity on the why.

I will suggest that leaders in Corporations. Parents, friends, and partners take responsibility. for having that uncomfortable conversation before it gets out of hand. You will have to show empathy by taking the first step.
