LIMITLESS MONDAY
THE BLIND DATE
It was a beautiful day in Johannesburg. The rain was pouring as if the heavens had opened. The street was deserted. You could not hear yourself because it was thunderous. The spark from the thunder makes dark places open to brightness.
Everyone snuggled back into their room to have another sleep. You can imagine the kind of rain that makes you go back under the duvet. The tradition of working from home has made it so easy. And have an excuse not to step out.
The usual horns of cars in the early hours were nonexistent. The movement of men and sounds are limited. It is the essential personnel who are on the road.
Then I remember that my adage goes thus: rain is a messenger that did not come to hinder any other messenger. You only need to find your way around it. And just as I choose to be ready for the day. The droppings start slowing down, and the clouds get clearer.
But the sun 🌞 is still not ready to shine. It looks so magical. The cloudy atmosphere is keeping the sun from shining.
. The drainage system took its turn to clear the road. But as one set gets cleared, another gathers.
A few offices are beginning to open, and sales still look bleak in stores. Then here comes the sweet part of that day. A friend who has always complained about patronage, whose store is located at a corner of a high-brow area in Johannesburg, Sandton Central. “THE RICHEST SQUARE MILE IN AFRICA”.
On this fateful day, .she had actually felt that, because of the stormy rain in the morning. The street would get deserted, and it would be a waste to start coming to town. And open a store when it's a day many might choose to chill at home.
It was a day ordained for her business to take another turn. A sales representative of a big manufacturing conglomerate came to town. The night before, they were looking for a distributor for the new product. It had been launched.
Guess who they met that rainy hour, where her store is located, sitting with regrets for coming out when she could have taken the day as a holiday that does not come so easily. But fate met her. She bagged the opportunity, and the rest became a story.
What if she did not encourage herself to open the store? What if she saw the rain as a challenge and was angry? What if she couldn't see the good in that day and wouldn't budge? What if she opens and is hostile, takes all her anger on those strangers, and might even feel they are only looking for shelter from the rain and not actually interested?
Hey darling, cast your bread upon the waters, because after many days you will find it. Sow your seed in the morning and in the evening withhold not your hand because you do not know which will prosper.
